The government has issued a call for tenders for the construction of Hal-Luqa road in Santa Lucija worth about 4 million euro, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg has announced.

The road will have four lanes, two in each direction with crash barriers and lights in the middle, which Borg said would create better access to the locality, and will also have a raised street level for cyclists and pedestrians.

The project will also include the planting of more than 170 trees.

Works will begin this year.

This project forms part of the wider initiative involving the Marsa Junction Project.
