People awaiting truth, justice on Panama Papers scandal – PN

Friday, 13 July 2018, 16:25 Last update: about 7 years ago

The Nationalist Party said the people are still awaiting the truth on the Panama Papers scandal and that justice is done.

In a statement, the PN made reference to a legal victory for former Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil for the recusal of Mr Justice Antonio Mizzi, who is married to a Labour MEP who had spoken about the Panama Papers scandal.

Busuttil had requested a magisterial inquiry into the companies opened in Panama three days after Labour was elected to government. Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri and Minister Konrad Mizzi were among those who appealed. Busuttil had called for the recusal of Mr Justice Mizzi from hearing the case, a request that has now been accepted by the constitutional court.

After this decision, the PN said it will continue to insist that all the truth about the Panama Papers scandal will emerge and that justice is carried out.
