A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured Saturday evening after he was hit by a car at the Strand in Sliema, the police said.

The accident took place at around 6.20pm.

The boy, of Russian nationality, was hit by an ambulance driven by a 49-year-old man of Birzeebuga.

He was taken to hospital where he was found to be suffering from serious injuries.
