The couple - Christine & Francesco; Date of wedding 15 July 2017; Christine Haber, 26, a teacher and Francesco Catania, 26, a journalist. Their ceremony was held at Ta’ Giezu in Valletta, followed by a wedding reception at Palazzo Promontorio, Wardija; Photography | The Fotografer

Christine and Francesco both attended the same school. They spoke briefly and participated in the same activities and events but were not part of the same circle of friends. A few years later, Francesco joined a musical TV series that Christine was part of. At the time they were both dating someone else, but they became friends. Time passed and things changed for both of them. They were both single but still there were no emotional feelings involved, until one day Francesco decided to tell Christine how he really felt about her. At that time Christine had just started dating someone else, but she realized that she felt the same way towards Francesco. She ended things with the other guy and texted Francesco to tell him that she felt the same way about him too. They started dating and never looked back.

After two years together, Christine and Francesco welcomed their daughter Nina into the world. They knew that they were in the relationship for real even before their daughter was born and Francesco had big plans for the proposal. But, as he explained he always manages to rush things. “On May 17th 2014,when Nina was just four months old, I was outside her house and had the ring on me, so, I proposed there and then. Without all the scenarios I had in mind, I just could not resist. Thankfully she said ‘yes’” Francesco recalled.

They tied the knot on July 15th, 2017 at Ta’ Ġieżu in Valletta, it was because of Christine’s perseverance that they got married in this church. She really wanted to get married in Valletta. It is the hometown of Christine’s mother and Francesco’s father and they wanted to have the beauty of the Capital City as a backdrop for their wedding photographs. They agreed to change the timing of their Mass to 5:30 pm and served drinks afterwards on the bridge. The reception, with catering and a beautiful wedding cake by Busy Bee, was held later, at Palazzo Promontorio in Wardija. “The wedding venue’s owner, Rita, is related to my dad and a very good friend of the family. Ever since I was 12 years old Rita used to ask me if I have a boyfriend and if I am going to get married, because if so I had to get married at the Palazzo. So obviously when the time came to plan the wedding we did not look anywhere else because we could not miss the opportunity to share our happiness with the priceless, natural, breath-taking views in the background of the Palazzo”, Christine explained.

The theme for their wedding day was all quite pretty and dainty with a colour combination of pink and blue including the flowers from Floral Decor. They wanted their wedding to look like a fairy tale, so used a lot of fairy lights and delicate ornaments from Commander Jay Entertainment to create the desired atmosphere. The wedding invitations were like a postcard with a number of pictures of the couple at a fun fair, made from A&M Printing, while, the souvenirs were salt and pepper shakers with Mr and Mrs written on them, from Charming Diva.

Christine walked down the aisle to Francesco on a pink carpet, wearing a beautifully simple yet so delicate ball gown. It had a floral design on one side of the shoulder and on the bodice, while the rest was in sheer material, and the skirt was made of lace. She chose the dress immediately, from Milu by Mimi. She just knew it was the one and did not want to look at others as she was adamant about her choice and did not regret it. The dresses for the female wedding party were blue, to match the theme, while their daughter who was the flower girl had a white dress, matching the bride.

Francesco, wore an elegant, blue suit, while the groom’s men wore grey suits, all from Natasha’s His and Hers.

The couple opened the dance floor with their first dance to a mash-up of L’emozione non ha voce by Adriano Celentano and Everything by Michael Bublé. Then they were surprised by Christine’s parents who invited the well-known Ivan Grech to perform some of his songs at the wedding, it was a wonderful surprise for the couple. They danced the night away to the lovely music by Christian Arding & Band together with their families and friends. It passed by so quickly that the day after the wedding they both thought that it was a dream. It was definitely one of best days of their lives.

For their honeymoon they went to the USA. First, they went to New York, then Orlando, Florida. They were meant to get two short cruises from there, but during the first cruise the news of hurricane Irma broke and they had to make changes to their whole trip. It was a horrible experience for them. They had to take several risks to arrive at a safer place, but finally managed to arrive in Las Vegas and had a wonderful time.
