Overbooking on an Air Malta flight from Munich led to a delay in Germany which in turn caused a 90-minute wait for passengers wanting to come to Malta from Catania, Air Malta said.
The flight from Catania left at 12.50am on Friday instead of the scheduled 11.20pm on Thursday, leaving passengers fuming.
“Ironically a 90 mins delay for a 25 mins flight!” an irate passenger wrote on Facebook. “So much for our national airline to become the airline of the Mediterranean.... yeah right!!!”
An Air Malta representative replied to his post, saying that the aircraft that was to operate the Catania-Malta route was delayed in Munich because of overbooking. This eventually affected the Catania flight, she said.
