Montekristo zoo: 'No proof', because of police negligence? - AD asks

Monday, 30 July 2018, 09:56 Last update: about 7 years ago

Alternattiva Demokratika noted today that last week Charles Polidano, better known as 'ic-Caqnu', was cleared of the charge of operating an illegal zoo at his Montekristo Estates in the limits of Hal Farrug. The case was about a boy who was seriously injured by a tiger kept at Montekristo.

In its decision the Court said that the proscution had failed to prove its case.

Carmel Cacopardo, AD Chairperson said:"How can the police expect to prove that an illegal zoo operates at Montekristo without exhibiting a list and photos of animals kept at Montekristo? Alternattiva Demokratika is concerned about how the Police tackled this case. Polidano is very well known to do as he pleases. Is this a case of negligence or is it something much more that that? The Police Commissioner should immediately hold an internal inquiry about this case and take the necessary steps."
