A woman was seriously injured this afternoon when she was hit by a car in Zejtun, the police said.

The accident took place in Luqa Briffa Street at 12.45pm.

The woman, aged 23 and resident in Marsascala, was hit by an Isuzu Elf driven by a 28-year-old man of Zejtun.

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
