A 68-year-old German man lost his life on Thursday while swimming at Dwejra, Gozo.

The accident happened at around 5pm.

According to reports, the victim’s son noticed that his father had not yet come up to shore and called the emergency services were called in.

Attempts to revive the victim proved futile and the German was declared dead at the scene.

His body was taken to the Gozo General Hospital, where an autopsy is expected to be carried out.

The police are investigating the case.
