Reigning champions Valletta FC Futsal ticked their first win in the Preliminary Round Group E of the UEFA Futsal Champions League. The Citizens assured their first three points against the Estonian champions Cosmos with the end result of 4-2.
Valletta went on the lead after only three minutes of play through international Georgian player Murtaz Kakabadze. On the 12th minute they even doubled the score when the other Georgian player Gia Nikvashvili made a pass to the Columbian international player Camilo Gomez who managed to put the ball at the back of the net. Cosmos succeeded to reduce the gap, just two minutes and a half from the end of the first half, through Stepan Tsemoussov.
In the opening seconds of the second half, Valletta had a cold shower as Cosmos scored the equalizer through Erik Grigorjev. On the 33rd minute Valletta put themselves again on the advantage with a fierce shot from the left by the Spanish player Yerai Hernandez Gutierrez. In the final period, Cosmos put everything forward and introduced the flying keeper. It was time for Valletta to put an end to and seal their first win with a last minute goal scored by Serbian Ninislav Aleksic.
Valletta will play their second group match later today at 5:30pm, against the Irish champions Futsamba Naas. Finally Valletta will play their last group match against hosts Macedoninan champions Veles at 8:00pm.
