A woman has saved three newborn kittens that had been wrapped in a plastic bag and dumped in a bin in Sliema.

Carol Curmi told The Malta Independent that she was walking along St Pius V Street, in Sliema, when she heard the sounds of crying kittens.

Upon further inspection, Curmi found the three kittens inside the bin. They had been placed inside a plastic bag and then into a garbage bag. One of the kittens still had its placenta attached.

The woman took the kittens to a nearby vet, where they were cleaned up and bottle-fed.

She also found someone who can care for them.  “We can now only hope for the best,” Carol said.
