Two men were arrested today after they were caught manufacturing fireworks illegally, the police said.

In a statement, the police said it had received information about the men’s activity in Ghelejjel Street, Gudja, at 9am.

The police said a substantial amount of explosive material was discovered, leading to the arrest of the two men.

Members of the Explosives Ordinance Unit were called in as part of the investigation.

The police did not give their ages or place of residence.

Magistrate Josette Demicoli is conducting an inquiry.
