Thursday, 6 September 2018, 10:00 Last update: about 7 years ago

The Rotary Clubs of the Maltese Islands have jointly issued a call for applications to residents of Malta for a Rotary Scholarship worth $30,000 for international, post-graduate studies during the academic year 2019-2020.  This scholarship is one of the most generous scholarships available in Malta.

Scholarships are available for study in one of Rotary Foundation's areas of focus, namely peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and other sanitation, maternal and child health, literacy and basic education and economic and community development.

Scholarships range from one to four years and therefore can include an entire degree programme and can cover tuition, travel and accommodation.

The Rotary Foundation is the world's largest private donor of scholarships with 800 scholarships granted worldwide annually. Rotary, which this year celebrated its 50th anniversary in Malta, is a service club which enables members to provide services to the community and has supported many organisations such as Dar il-Kaptan, the Ghabex Centre, Caritas as well as various overseas projects.

Proposals for the scholarship need to be submitted by 16 September on forms available on http://rotarylavalette.orgwww.rotary.org.mt or by emailing [email protected]

Evaluation Procedures:

Following receipt of applications, a committee representing the three Rotary Clubs in Malta and Gozo will evaluate applications and short-listed candidates will be requested to attend an interview. Selection of a preferred candidate from the Maltese Islands will be made together with a runner-up. The Malta area endorsed preferred candidate will then compete together with candidates from Sicily for selection by the Rotary District 2110 Sicily and Malta Committee.

District-endorsed applications will then need to submit an online application to the Rotary Foundation. Applicants must provide evidence of acceptance from the university of their choice before the scholarship is awarded.
