Work starts on PN’s ‘Independence Village’ in Floriana

Work has started on its yearly 'Independence Village' at the Granaries in Floriana, as the PN gears up its preparations for the celebration of Malta's Independence Day.

Party secretary general Clyde Puli explained during a visit to the site that the theme for this year's celebrations shall be centred around the slogan 'Soċjetà li Jimpurtaha' and said that the choice of this theme was because the PN wanted to emphasise a society that was built on five pillars.

These pillars, Puli said, are the conservation of life; a decent living for all; shelter for all in poor situations; the quality of life; and the identity of all Maltese and Gozitans.

The celebrations will begin from Saturday 15 September and will continue up to 20 September, when PN Leader Adrian Delia will address a mass meeting.

The programme for the celebrations will include tribute bands, the Kanzunetta Indipendenza competition with both adult and junior categories and also a 'Teen Party' for youths together with DJ Nate VF.

Puli, who was accompanied by the head of the party's administrative council David Stellini and the party's political coordinator Jean Pierre Debono, appealed to all Maltese people to join the PN in celebrating this event where Malta became a sovereign nation state.
