Sicilia da Gustare, a tasteful bridge across the Mediterranean

Thursday, 13 September 2018, 08:36 Last update: about 7 years ago

The latest edition (2018/2019) of the Guide Sicilia da Gustare will be distributed free with The Malta Independent tomorrow, Saturday 15 September. Again this year, Malta will be widely represented with its restaurants, thus consolidating that ideal "bridge" which connects two islands, Malta and Sicily, with different culture, language and traditions, but which lie at the centre of the Mediterranean Sea and share a long history.

Sicilia da Gustare, published by Carmelo Pagano, will provide very useful tips to Sicilian and Maltese readers, with the aim of making them live delicious gourmet experiences and inspiring new travel destinations.

The Guide itself loves travelling, thanks to a wide distribution by sea (on Virtu Ferries catamarans) and by air (on Air Malta flights), but also with a print run of around 30,000 copies distributed among the various restaurants and companies listed inside the book, as well as supplement to the Italian Il Sole24Ore and The Malta Independent.

Malta and Sicily will become the ideal destinations for those who want to enjoy the beauty of their sea, art, history, entertainment and dedicate time for excellent cuisine. "Our guide is increasingly becoming a useful instrument to bring closer together the peoples on both sides of the Mediterranean, just a few miles distant from each other," said the publisher, Carmelo Pagano.

"As a Sicilian, I am fascinated by the lively tourist activity of Malta and I realised that, in addition to accommodation tourist service, the island is developing a strong high-quality catering sector, with an excellent food and wine offer. I was also very pleased that many Maltese restaurants are well organised and managed efficiently to meet the needs of the most demanding travellers, although much still needs to be done. However, there is a great desire to grow."

Sicilia da Gustare has picked up these signals and has told them in this useful guide. Furthermore, one of our main goal is to deepen and study the Maltese cuisine by searching for its most authentic traditional dishes: the next step will be to publish a volume with recipes, photos and stories reflecting the beauty and the gastronomy of the Knights' island. This will become a useful business card for those who want to know the traditional, as well as the most refined Maltese cuisine proposed by local restaurants.
