The founder of a cryptocurrency exchange OKEx was detained for questioning by the Shanghai police, allegedly in connection with certain fraud allegations, according to Bitcoin Magazine.

Bitcoinmagazine.com reports that Star Xu, the OKEx founder, was taken to the local police station in shanghai for questioning, and was then released on 11 September.

The news site reports that the Shanghai police were responding to several complaints they received about WFee coin - likely from investors who had lost money in the scheme. Star Xu is allegedly a shareholder of WFee coin.

Prime Minister Josaph Muscat had personally tweeted to welcome OKEx to Malta back in April.
