Ten-man Pembroke proved a point yesterday against Vittoriosa in an entertaining 2-2 draw. The result was a fair result even though Pembroke slightly had the edge even though they played in numerical inferiority for almost half of the match. For both sides this was the second consecutive draw.

The game had a rather slow start with Mifsud Triganza going near with a spectacular over head kick. However Vittoriosa took the lead through Ogunnupe who scored a good goal from an acute angle, but Pembroke hit back with a well taken goal by Mifsud Triganza.

At the start of the second half Vittoriosa regained the lead through an Ogunnupe penalty, a penalty caused by Zachary Grech who was sent off for a second booking. However Pembroke never gave away an inch and obtained a deserved equaliser through defender Gustavo following a corner action.

In the remaining minutes both sides went in search for the three points at stake with Pembroke going close on several occassions.

The First Division League is known to be a balanced one, with practically all sides on the same level. If proof was ever needed, this was confirmed yesterday after yet another draw, this time between Gudja United and Zebbug Rangers, and for both of them this was the second consecutive draw obtained.

And it was a fair one too. Both teams have a solid side with some interesting players even on the substitute’s bench. Gudja had a slight edge over their opponents especially in the second half and had the best chance of the game through Jackson Lima but Jurgen Borg made an outstanding save.

Gudja also went close late in the game with a Shalon Diacono scorcher skimming the crossbar. Zubbug’s best chance came a minute from time when a Clive Brincat header was brilliantly saved by Tabone.
