Balzan registered a third win on the trot when they easily disposed of Mosta. A win which put them sole leaders though they can be overtaken by Gzira or Hamrun who have a match in hand. After a rather balanced first half with Balzan holding the edge, the latter imposed more authority on the match.

Both sides won their last matches of the campaign, Balzan were coming from a convincing win against Senglea in their last outing with Mosta also finishing on the winning side beating Tarxien.

Balzan coach Marko Micovic sent out an offensive formation with three attackers aided by Effiong and Da Paixao on the flanks . Mosta coach Piccioni played with De Oliveira as a lone striker with distribution towards him being limited.

The match started brightly with both teams searching for an early lead. And it was Balzan who broke the deadlock on 13 minutes with a beauty strike by Alex Da Paixao Alves who fired a fierce shot from the edge of the area, the ball hitting  the upright before crossing the line. But Mosta's reaction was an immediate one when they drew level three minutes later. Off a free kick from the left flank in came Tyrone Farrugia whose shot hit the net for Mosta equalizer. This was Farrugia's second goal of the season.

In the 23rd minute Mosta were awarded an indirect free kick following a back pass error. De Cerchio's shot was blocked by Bozovic with Mosta protesting for an alleged hand ball by the Balzan defender. Mosta kept on dictating matters and on 25 minutes a Miranda Gomez shot was saved by Sultana.

Balzan were now coming more into the picture and in the 33rd minute Effiong headed inches over the bar a Bozovic cross. Two minutes later Balzan regained the lead. Majdevac was the supplier with Alex Da Paixao Alves the executor.

On the change of ends Balzan sealed the issue in the 50th minute when off a Lepovic corner a melee ensued and in came Uros Ljubomirac who slotted the ball past Vella. Balzan kept piling on the pressure and in the 63rd minute a Lepovic shot just missed the target. Till the end Balzan were the better outfit though they never set any houses on fire.
