Watch: Dwejra's Azure Window reappears at San Gwann primary school

Monday, 1 October 2018, 17:30 Last update: about 7 years ago

Children arriving at St. Clare's College Primary School in San Gwann on Monday morning were greeted with an intriguing site as they found themselves standing in front of Dwejra's Azure Window, colourfully reproduced on the school's facade.

The school's headmaster David Caruana said that the Azure Window symbolised a piece of heritage that the country had lost, but with the help of some imagination, the window had reappeared once again.  Caruana said that they wanted the students to pass through the Azure Window to symbolise the idea that they were beginning an exciting and educational journey made possible from the school's educators and staff.

The artist who brought the Azure Window back to life is Joanne Falzon, a member of staff at the school.

The school's administrators and teachers greeted the children on a red carpet, creating an upbeat atmosphere and performing their own dance recital of the popular song 'baby shark'.  It was surely a memorable first day at school for the young students, as they start a new educational adventure.
