New students, new courses at university

New students

The University of Malta started its new Academic Year, with over 4572 new students.

3216 students will be following undergraduate courses, while 1356 students will be reading for postgraduate degrees. 

Another 818 new students will be joining Junior College, to bring the total number of students to 1727.

International students

A total of 979 international students representing 113 different countries will be pursuing studies at the university this year.

Total number of students

The total number of students at the University of Malta for academic year 2018-2019 is:  11860, of these 4780 are male and 7080 female, following a total of 887 courses.

At present, the Admissions Office is working to process applications from persons who sat for the Matriculation Examination September Session and whose results were published last week. These applicants have been advised that in case of a positive result, which should qualify them for the course of their choice, they can attend freshers' week and lectures even before they receive their official letter of acceptance.

Lectures for continuing students commenced on 1st October.  Lectures for fresher students commence on 4th October.
