A hold-up took place in Birkirkara in the early hours of Saturday morning. 

A police statement said that a woman entered a shop on valley road at half past midnight pointing her hand, which covered by a towel, at the cashier, who is aged 18. 

The offender took off with a substantial amount of money.

The police are investigating.
