Sunday 7th October at Kart Circuit Val Vibrata the National Finals of the Rotax Max Challenge were organised and two members of Karting Club Malta, Nick Gauci and Jake Agius were eligible to compete. This was possible after Gauci and Agius finsihed the Sicilian Championship first and second respectively. This final was open to 18 competitors but only 11 signed up. Gauci finished in 5th place and Agius in the 8th. Agius competed with a BRM kart while Agius competed with a DR kart, while all competing engines were Rotax125.
Gauci is completely satisfied after finishing 5th, had a positive weekend getting more and more confident with the circuit towards the end of the races. The Italian drivers that live in the same region of the circuit dominated the races and the first four places. Gauci raced very close and practically finished 3rd with 148 points, ended 5th only because two other competitors had a better time in one of their laps.
Agius also ended this adventure on a positive note at position 8, following several difficulties. In the beginning placed 5th but in the second race a female driver spinned her kart infront of Agius hence he lost considerable amount of time. In the second race there was an accident between the two Maltese drivers and as a result one of Agius's kart wheels burst.
