Watch - UEFA Nations League, Azerbaijan v Malta: National team trains at the Baku Olimpiya Stadium

The national team yesterday effected a full training session at the Baku Olimpiya Stadium, venue in which Malta faces Azerbaijan tomorrow in the fourth match of the UEFA Nations League D, Group 3 match, and also the venue of next May's Europa League final.

When the two sides met in October at Ta' Qali, Malta obtained a 1-1 draw, the only point gained so far in the competition. On Thursday Azerbaijan defeated Faroe Islands 3-0 in Thorshavn, and Malta suffered a 1-3 defeat in Prishtina against Kosovo.

The players were in high spirits yesterday during this only full training spin held in Baku. On Friday on arrival from Prishtina, the players who were not employed in the game against Kosovo had another light training spin.

Malta will be without Michael Mifsud on Sunday after he was sent off on Thursday against Kosovo. Ryan Camilleri is recovered and Joseph Zerafa is expected to be back in the initial eleven after serving his match suspension against Kosovo.

Jean Paul Farrugia or Alfred Effiong will in all probability be romped in instead of Michael Mifsud.
