PD MP Godfrey Farrugia has effectively been declared the new leader of Partit Demokratiku by an independent Electoral Commission of the party in a report to the party's Executive.
By the closing date and time for submissions, no further leadership nominees had been submitted, therefore resulting in Farrugia remaining uncontested.
The leadership election which was scheduled for Saturday, 13th October 2018 has now become redundant.
Partit Demokratiku's priority remains for an educated, outward looking, open European society where active participation replaces exclusion. PD pledges to reinstate honesty and responsibility into the heart of Maltese politics and give a stronger voice to citizens who believe that our nation deserves to be governed in a way that makes us proud and safeguards a dignified lifestyle for the generations of today and tomorrow.
