Shooting: Stanley Cardona wins the Lorchard Trap Trophy

After years away from the Bidnija Shooting Ranges, Stanley Cardona made a good comeback in Trap Shooting when he won the Lorchard Trophy, an event that was organised on two qualification rounds of twenty five clay targets each plus finals.

Joining Cardona on the podium were George Mifsud and Christopher Farrugia who won the Silver and the Bronze Medals respectively.

The six Finalists in the Bib number order according to their qualification scores were;

George Mifsud 44/50, Stanley Cardona 41/50+9, John Marmara 41/50+8, Nazzareno Attard 39/50+3, Frank Scorfna 39/50+2 and Christopher Farrugia as he qualified for the finals with Bib number six with the score of 37/50+2 after he won a two-way shoot-off with Stephen Aquilina who on the other hand was eliminated with the score of 37/50+1.

The official overall results were:

1st Stanley Cardona 18/25 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 1/5 + 8/10, total score 35/50

2nd George Mifsud 16/25 + 2/5 + 5/5 + 4/5 + 7/10, total score 34/50

3rd Christopher Farrugia 18/25 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 1/5, total score 25/40

4th Nazzareno Attard 15/25 + 5/5 + 3/5, total score 23/35

5th John Marmara 14/25 + 4/5, total score 18/30

6th Frank Scorfna 10/25, total score 10/25

The top three Shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with the following scores:

 

Class A

1st George Mifsud 44/50

2nd Stanley Cardona 41/50

3rd Nazzareno Attard 39/50

 

Class B

1st John Marmara 41/50

2nd Stephen Aquilina 37/50

3rd George Cassar 36/50

 

Class C

1st Charlie Demanuele 35/50

2nd Michael Galea 28/50

3rd Noel Scicluna 27/50

 

The MSSF Trap Programme will continue on Sunday 21 October 2018 at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club with the Pink October Fundraising Competition.
