The ruling given by the Speaker of the House of Representatives on Monday exposes the deceit of former Nationalist Party leader Simon Busuttil, the Labour Party said in a statement.
Speaker Anglu Farrugia forced Busuttil to retract or amend his declaration that the Prime Minister had only called for a magisterial inquiry into the Egrant allegations “once he had made sure that all evidence had disappeared.” Busuttil had amended the version saying that it was suspicious that an inquiry had been called hours after the news had broken out.
In a statement this morning, the Labour Party said the ruling was yet another occasion which exposed Busuttil’s deceit.
In Parliament, Busuttil had made serious allegations which he had to withdraw. Like everyone else, Busuttil had the right to express himself but he has to shoulder responsibility for what he says.
