MUSIC+

Thursday, 18 October 2018, 20:11 Last update: about 7 years ago

The first part of the festival MUSIC+ organised by The Classique Foundation is just over. This included 3 highly successful and acclaimed recitals by international and local artists; masterclasses by international tutors in clarinet, violin and piano; 2 workshops - OPERA 4 KIDS - for primary school students; and a talk by Dr. Abraham Borg about the rich history of Opera in Malta. Although new in the organization of festivals, The Classique Foundation is really satisfied to have had packed halls for the events.

MUSIC+ will resume on 28th October at 19:30hrs at the Exhibition Hall, Ministry for Gozo, with a flute and piano recital - Bach and beyond - featuring Maltese-Canadian flutist Rebecca Hall and Maltese pianist Gisele Grima. They will be performing works by J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, F. Chopin, C. Debussy, G. Bizet, E, Granados and by the Maltese composer Joseph Vella who passed away early this year. This recital will take place instead of the advertised trumpet and piano recital since one of the soloist is indisposed. As usual, entrance for this recital is free of charge.

MUSIC+ concludes with a conference in Maltese: Il-Futur tal-Opra fil-Gzejjer Maltin. This will take place on 9th November at 19:30hrs at the Circolo Gozitano, Savina Square, Victoria, Gozo. This conference will be moderated by Dr. Paul Xuereb and will also be addressed by internationally renowned soprano Miriam Gauci and Cecilia Xuereb. All opera buffs, scenographers, choristers, chorus masters, conductors, props managers, repetiteurs, stage managers, artistic directors, reviewers, and all those involved in opera productions are invited to participate. Attendance is by registration by sending an email on: [email protected].
