Premier League leaders Gzira United are expected to retain their three-point lead at the top of the standings this weekend.
While they will be facing bottom club Senglea, their immediate challengers Sliema are also expected to win another three points as they take on mid-table placed Mosta.
Next in line, Valletta, Balzan and Hibernians will be facing Pieta, Floriana and Hamrun respectively.
The other matches are: Qormi-St Andrews and Birkirkara-Tarxien R.
Gzira are meritedly leading the standings having lost just two points from their opening six matches.
They have not only shown consistency, but have also confirmed their strength in depth with a squad that includes promising youngsters and established players including veterans Haber, Cohen and Briffa.
Against Senglea they are not expected to falter although they cannot take anything for granted. They will be expected to do better than leaving it late to win as they did against Qormi in their last encounter.
The Yellow Reds, in fact, are in dire need of points and they could prove to be a tough nut to crack, even if this seems rather impossible against the best team so far in the competition.
Sliema lie three points behind and with Gzira firm favourites to win the three points, they will certainly be doing their best to beat Mosta and maintain the pace with the Maroons at the top.
Mosta have shown no consistency and they will have to be at their very best to keep the Wanderers at bay.
Valletta also seem to have a relatively good chance to keep in touch - four points behind the leaders - when they face Pieta Hotspurs.
The latter have now obtained their first victory and it could be possible for them to give Valletta a good run for their money if they show the same enthusiasm they have been showing so far.
Even so, Valletta remain firm favourites to win the three points. They have recovered brilliantly after their worst start to a season in many years - they lost their opening two matches - and seem well on the way to defend their title successfully.
It will be tough, however, for both Balzan and Hibernians.
Balzan will be meeting a revived Floriana side which has finally started moving up the standings.
In their last match, the Greens beat bottom placed Senglea 4-1, but they also showed that they are on the way to recovery after a somewhat bad start to the season.
Balzan will be aiming to avoid a repeat of their last performance when they were overhelmed to the tune of 4-1 by Valletta.
For Hibernians, it will not be easy either as they take on Hamrun Spartans.
The Paolites did well to beat their neighbours Tarxien 4-1 in the derby.
So far they have not been playing to their normal standards, but on their day, the Paolites could be unbeatable with several talented players among their ranks.
The Spartans, however, are passing through a good season, considering that they have lost only one of the six matches played so far.
Together with Floriana and Birkirkara, they have nine points and still are in a position to challenge for a place in Europe next season.
The disappointing Birkirkara side will be playing against Tarxien Rainbows and will have to show much better form than of late, if they are to return to winning form.
In their last match the Stripes went down 2-0 to St Andrews while Tarxien, as already said, lost heavily 4-1 against rivals Hibernians.
The Rainbows have also been very inconsistent so far and will have to show better form if they are to overcome the Stripes.
The other match of the weekend is what is considered as a relegation clash between Qormi and St Andrews.
St Andrews are full of enthusiasm after their 2-0 defeat of Birkirkara in the 6th round, while Qormi almost sprang a surprise, losing to leaders Gzira in the final moments.
