Shooting: Nico Sciberras wins the Pink October Trap event

Nico Sciberras was the overall winner of the Pink October Fundraising Event that was organised at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club.

With just a handful of competitions under his belt, the fourteen year old, Nico Sciberras, coached by Aldo Falzon showed that he is a rising star in Trap shooting when he made it to the top spot of the podium.

In the Final Stages of the competition, the Junior Athlete finished head to head with Nicky Carabott when both shooters scored 42/50 from a single shot. Only a shoot-off could separate these two when Sciberras came on top after hitting five targets and Carabott hit four and had to settle for second place. George Mifsud placed third overall.

The six Finalists in the Bib number order according to their qualification scores were;

John Marmara with the score of 44/50, Stanley Cardona 44/50, Nicky Carabott 44/50, Nico Sciberras 43/50, George Mifsud 43/50 and Angelo Ciappara 41/50.

The official overall results were

1st Nico Sciberras 21/25 + 5/5 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 8/10, total score 42/50

2nd Nicky Carabott 19/25 + 5/5 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 10/10, total score 42/50

3rd George Mifsud 20/25 + 3/5 + 2/5 + 4/5, total score 29/40

4th John Marmara 17/25 + 4/5 + 2/5, total score 23/35

5th Stanley Cardona 15/25 + 2/5, total score 17/30

6th Angelo Ciappara 14/25, total score 14/25

The top three Shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with the following scores;

Class A

1st Stanley Cardona 44/50 (Count Back Rule)

2nd Nicky Carabott 44/50

3rd George Mifsud 43/50

Class B

1st John Marmara 44/50

2nd Angelo Ciappara 41/50

3rd Peter Muscat 40/50

Class C

1st Nico Sciberras 43/50

2nd Charlie Demanuele 37/50

3rd George Grech 34/50
