A Bulgarian woman was seriously injured on Wednesday afternoon after she was hit by a car in Luqa.

The accident took place at around 2.45pm near the airport in Luqa, the police said.

The 41-year-old woman was hit by a Toyota Avensis that was being driven by a 69-year-old man from Birzebbugia.

She was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. Her injuries were classified as grievous.
