World champion triathletes in Malta for Super League Triathlon

For the first time ever, Malta will host one of the biggest sporting events, if not the biggest, of 2018 at the end of this month.  A stable of world class international triathletes will be participating in the Malta leg of the new season of the Super League Triathlon, which will be organized during this weekend.  The event is expected to draw the attention of many others with many local enthusiasts eagerly looking forward to it.

Yesterday, the triathletes met Prime Minister Joseph Muscat at Auberge de Castille. Prime Minister Muscat welcomed the athletes to Malta and wished them the best of luck for the second leg happening this weekend in the three cities.

The athletes also met ALS activist Bjorn Formosa. "It's a fantastic thing to see these athletes here on the island. It helps our cause whilst also raising the profile of the island. I'm very excited to be watching over the weekend," said Bjorn Formosa.

The season kicked off with the first leg in Jersey, before preparing for the second leg here in Malta. It will then continue across Majorca, Singapore and Australia.This sporting discipline is among the most popular sports in the world and Malta's unique scenerywill complement the challenges and excitement this event offers.This sport is very well known for its difficulty as well as the spirit of adventure it evokes, and the Maltese public will have every opportunity to closely follow the world's best athletes as they compete against each other in our still relatively warmOctober temperatures.

Choosing Malta as one of the event locations confirm the good reputation Malta enjoys thanks to the continuous efforts of the Malta Tourism Authority to promote Malta as a sports destination. Among the athletes who will be participating in Malta at the end of this month are Alistair Brownlee (United Kingdom), Ashleigh Gentle (Australia), Carolina Routier (Spain), Flora Duffy (Bermuda), Henri Schoeman (South Africa), Jacob Birtwhistle (Australia), Jonny Brownlee (United Kingdom), Katie Zaferes (USA), Mario Mola (Spain), Nicola Spirig (Switzerland), Rachel Klamer (Netherlands) and Richard Murray (L South Africa). These are some of the names of the best athletes who will thrill all the local enthusiasts with their agility, speed and technique in their sport.
