Group B
Floriana Young Stars 4 Laferla White Hart 1 Umpires Shawn Mifsud Steve Cachia
Young Stars should have put this match to rest long before they scored their third goal on 60 minutes. Despite enjoying total territorial advantage and after not having availed themselves of five penalty corner awards, also being denied by some sound goalkeeping by White Hart's custodian, Ramon Chircop, they reached the change of ends leading by a goal to nil when Jamie Mifsud netted on 30 minutes as a result of another penalty corner award.
After fending off White Hart's first attack, on 43 minutes Justin Bonello flicked home from the centre of the D to send Young Stars into a 2 - 0 lead. Although still dominating the game, territorially, they were subject to sporadic forays by White Hart down the flanks. On 60 minutes Mifsud sent Young Stars in a 3 - 0 lead when he scored his second goal with a reverse flick after entering the D after a run down the left flank. To their credit White Hart reacted and on 64 minutes Glen Bonello pulled one back to cut Young Stars' lead to 3 - 1 but three minutes from time Joep Franssen scored to restore their three goal margin until the final whistle.
Group A
Rabat Depiro 1 Qormi Daikin 8 Umpires James Mizzi Alessandro Amore
Qormi went ahead when on 9 minutes John Williams scored from close range. Three minutes later Shawn Dimech equalised for Rabat as a result of a penalty corner action. At this point no one could envisage the goal glut that was to follow as Qormi caught this game by the scruff of the neck. Steve Tanti grabbed Qormi's second goal on 14 minutes and scored his second to send his team into 3 - 1 lead on 22 minutes. Almost immediately Keith Bajada scored to send Qormi 4 - 1 up at the interval.
Two minutes into the second half Zachary Degiovanni shot Qormi into a 5 - 1 lead and on 44 minutes Kyle Micallef netted Qormi's sixth. Rabat had a couple of attempts cleared off the line but were caught napping on the counter attack when Ayrton Falzon scored Qormi's seventh goal on 50 minutes with Steve Portelli rounding off the scoring on 59 minutes to give Qormi a resounding 8 -1 victory.
