With two first half goals and some solid defending in the second part, Zebbug rangers obtained their third league win of the season, and inflicted the first defeat on Sirens. Zebbug have now moved to second place together with the same Sirens, Mqabba and Vittoriosa on the twelve points mark, five points behind runaway leaders Santa Lucija.

It was a gripping affair with Zebbug the better side in the first half, building a two-goal cushion with well taken goals. In the second half Sirens piled the pressure on Zebbug and deservedly scored a great goal with an Adeshina header.

They pushed forward for the equaliser but Jurgen Borg in the Zebbug goal made some outstanding saves to preserve a precious win for Zebbug.

Pembroke A-Zejtun C    0-0

Zejtun and Pembroke settled for a point yesterday, a point that can be considered as a positive result, with both teams smarting from defeats in their last outing.

Although under new technical guidance Zejtun's problems persist as they are now ten points from leaders Santa Lucija. Zejtun had more of the ball and some good scoring opportunities too, but on the other hand Pembroke missed a sitter in the first half through Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza, and also scored what looked to be a regular goal on 70 minutes, again through Mifsud Triganza, but this goal was disallowed in a peculiar way by referee Spiteri.

In the end the result was a fair one, but a disappointing one for both.
