Former Prime Minister and Maltese MEP Alfred Sant met UK Minister Brandon Lewis at the European Parliament Brussels exchanging views on all possible scenarios on Brexit negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom. The UK Minister without Portfolio is responsible for Cabinet Office Brexit preparedness and legislation and attends several committees in this capacity.
The Maltese MEP and the UK Minister discussed the possibility of a second Brexit Referendum, the possible agreement between the UK and the EU at an extraordinary European Council to take place in November and Brexit’s impact on capital markets and equivalence of financial products and UK citizens rights in the EU as well as EU citizens’ rights in the UK.
The Maltese MEP will address a Conference on Brexit effects on Malta on Friday at 7pm at the Suncrest Hotel, Qawra. The Conference will discuss the prospects for the UK and for the EU member states and its effects on the Maltese islands’ economy. The public is invited to attend.
