The Nationalist Party is insisting that the Malta Financial Services Authority to be more effective in the way it is treating the Satabank situation as it could lead to worse repercussions.

In a statement signed by Kristy Debono, spokesperson for finance, the PN said that although the authority had announced that it was to release deposits on certain conditions, Satabank clients were finding it increasingly hard to do so and have no access to their money.

The PN is calling for a serious due diligence based on a holistic and strategic plan so that clients will not suffer from other people’s mistakes.

In reply, the government committed itself to help the bank's clients but the Opposition should decide what it wants from the MFSA.

On the one hand it says the MFSA is doing nothing and on the other it attacks the MFSA for the action it takes, the government said, adding that the opposition should stop undermining the country's institutions.
