Shots were fired during a hold-up attempt on a Zabbar shop on Tuesday evening, but no one was hurt, the police said.

The hold-up attempt took place in Main Road just after 8pm.

An armed and hooded man entered the outlet and demanded money from the owner, who resisted with the assistance of other by-standers. It was at this point that shots were fired, but no one was hit.

Members of the police raid intervention unit were quickly on site and arrested the aggressor. He is 46 years old.
