Bank of Valletta has launched its Cards for Charity promotional campaign that will run throughout this month. The bank will be making a monetary donation towards Caritas Malta for every transaction effected with any BOV debit or credit card during this month.

Speaking about the initiative, Ivo Camilleri, executive head Electronic Banking explained: "More and more people are choosing cards as their preferred method of payment, both for retail as well as for online shopping. This campaign has a dual purpose," he said. "First, it encourages people to use their cards for a wider spectrum of transactions, and in so doing, gives them greater opportunity to see how convenient and secure they are to use. In addition, through this campaign, we are supporting Caritas Malta who are doing invaluable work within our society."

"The BOV Cards for Charity campaign underlines the bank's drive to make a positive contribution to the communities in which it operates and highlights BOV's commitment to play an active role in our society," said Charles Azzopardi, executive head PR & Marketing.

"Services by Caritas Malta are offered free of charge and depend heavily on the generosity of corporations and on fund-raising initiatives such as the BOV Cards for Charity to be able to offer the highest possible level of service to those who resort to Caritas (Malta) for assistance," continued Azzopardi.

The cardholder does not incur any expenses or charges. For every transaction effected with a BOV card, whether retail or online, the bank makes a nominal contribution on behalf of the cardholder.
