Thursday, 15 November 2018, 15:07 Last update: about 6 years ago

Partit Demokratiku today announced its second candidate for the European Parliamentary elections being held in May 2019. Martin Cauchi Inglott, a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Malta and a former diplomat, will be running on PD’s ticket.

Cauchi Inglott said that he had proudly served Malta for nearly three decades and he would be honoured to continue serving Malta in the European Parliament. He decided to enter politics because he wanted to work for a better Malta. He stated that it had become clear to him that the next phase of service to his country had to come through active citizenship – fighting for good governance, for the environment, and for a healthier democracy without making compromises on these issues. The only viable political party which offers the above is Partit Demokratiku.

Cauchi Inglott added that if he is elected, his primary focus in the European Parliament would be on migration since he had operational experience dealing with migration at sea, and policy experience in the field in Brussels, but he hoped to cover other areas which affect Malta as well.

The Hon. Dr. Godfrey Farrugia, PD leader commented that Martin had been approved to run on PD’s ticket following an internal process that included interviews with a board of scrutiny.  Partit Demokratiku is building a people’s movement with the mission of fixing the broken system and renewing Malta.
