A 54-year-old man from Luqa was grievously injured yesterday after he was hit by a falling piece of metal at a construction site in Ta’ Xbiex.

The accident took place in Testaferrata Street, at around 12:10 pm, the police said.

A crane was being used at the time. The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

Police investigations are ongoing.
