Friday, 16 November 2018, 12:40 Last update: about 6 years ago

On Thursday 15th November 2018, St Joseph School, Sliema marked Mental Health Awareness Day. This was an event organized by St Joseph School, Sliema for its primary school children and was held in collaboration with the Richmond Foundation.

Students and staff were asked to wear a green ribbon - the colour representing mental health awareness and good mental health for all. On the day My Melts handed out angels bought by the students to help raise funds for the Richmond Foundation. These angels remind people that they are not alone in their struggles.

Throughout the morning, students, staff and parents were assisted by representatives of the Richmond Foundation who spoke about the various aspects of mental health. The topics covered with parents and staff included: children and mental health, anxiety, ADHD, challenging behaviour in children and coping with such situations. Meanwhile the children were given a talk about how to take care of their mental health, going through the various emotions and how they are manifested.
