IGM reacts as reporters are threatened, intimidated during court arraignment

The Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM) has condemned all forms of threats and intimidation against journalists after a number of court reporters were threatened by relatives of youths who were charged with assaulting Liam Debono.

The IGM said all forms of violence, including verbal, is unacceptable and should not be permitted.

The institute acknowledged the efforts by the police, who escorted the journalists to their workplace and appealed to the authorities to ensure that journalists are always afforded protection during the course of their duties.
