Good governance

Sunday, 18 November 2018, 08:26 Last update: about 6 years ago

Engulfed in the flames of a series of corruption scandals, Joseph Muscat remains as cool as ever. For him and his crooks, the stakes are high and therefore it is business as usual. To add insult to injury, a large majority of people applaud him... and he wins poll after poll after poll with an unassailable advantage. In a few words, he is invincible. But what makes him so popular?

Joseph Muscat is now accustomed to downplay any allegation, be it the 17 Black revelations, 16 White or 15 Red. His supporters are gullible. They believe every single word he says. They do not realise that the national interest is being thrown out the window time and time again in favour of some crooked politicians' personal interest.

Why on earth does he keep shielding his favourite Minister Konrad Mizzi and his Chief of Staff Keith Schembri when he knows for sure that they are at fault? There is no talk of resignations because he knows that he is trusted by thousands of supporters and therefore he can survive any pain. He is arrogant and undemocratic like Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Yet he is in absolute control.

When will he face his responsibilities as Prime Minister of these islands in the face of such clear evidence? When are the powers of the European Union going to shake themselves awake and insist on getting clear answers to these serious allegations being reported repeatedly on this island? Can something be done by the opposing Party? It is high time the PN mend their ways because by failing to do so, they would be submitting to the most corrupt regime ever established on these islands.
