No-one was hurt in a blast at the Ghaxaq fireworks factory, which occurred early this morning, at a time when the factory was unmanned.

The explosion at the St Mary's Fireworks Factory took place at 1am, and destroyed one of the buildings in the complex.

Civil Protection Department personnel went on site to control the blaze.
