During the last months the Committee of the Malta Drag Racing Association, rebuildt the Drag Racing Strip at Hal Far, on time to hold the Final Event of 2018. 

Between Thursday 22nd and Sunday 25th the MDRA hold the biggest event in many years at Hal Far with the particiapation of 115 local and foreign participants. The event also offered a unique show for all the family. On the newly rebuildt track, many records and personal bests have been broken. 

Amongst many other records, Clint Fenech competed in the 4 cylinder nitro class, driving the Escort of Bjorn Xuereb improved his personal best to 9.055 seconds at 142mph setting a new record for the Nitro Class. Terrence Ridley raced the Benford Racing Dragster in the D4 Class and set a new World Record at 6.484 seconds at 203mph with a 4 cylinder Cosworth engine. John Martin raced the Escort of John Bonello in the Open 2 Class and broke the record of the fastest ever 4 cylinder door slammer in Malta at 7.422 seconds at 176mph, on the motorcycles scene Shawn Buttigieg stole the show racing his Suzuki Hyabusa in the Open Motorcycle Class, doing 6.962 at 207mph being the 3rd bike motorcycle to enter the 6 second zone in Malta. 

The next activity at Hal Far raceway is going to be a motorsport festival showcasing various motorsport disciplines between the 7th and the 9th of December, an event in aid of the Blue Light Foundation.
