A young woman who was riding pillion on a motorbike suffered serious injuries in an accident in Mellieha on Tuesday evening, the police said.

The accident happened in Marfa Road at 9.15pm.

The biker, a 20-year-old man of Sliema, lost control of a Honda CBR and crashed.

An ambulance was called at it took the 19-year-old woman, of Ta’ Xbiex, to hospital.
