A last gasp header by substitute Dasser Sammut, his second of the game, foiled ten-man Marsa yesterday against Qrendi.

Marsa who are at the bottom of the tabel after San Gwann’s second win on Friday, were heading for a precious draw against Qrendi, when they had been playing with a man less as from the 64 th minute. Their captain Melvin Busuttil was sent off for pushing an opponent, a reaction offence.

Quaranta had given Qrendi the lead but veteran Anizoba headed home the equaliser on 35 minutes. On the resumption, after Busuttil’s red card, Qrendi immediately took the lead through substitute Dasser Sammut, but Marsa were rewarded five minutes from time when Mark Gauci scored after tha same player had hit the crossbar.

Deepo in stoppage time Silveira Da Silva’s cross was met by Sammut who headed home the winner.

Newly promoted Swieqi defeated a sorry Zejtun side yesterday to grab the fourth successive victory and move to within sight of the promotion berths. It was adeserved win for Swieqi who took the chances that came their way and defended well against a confused Zejtun side.

Swieqi broke the deadlock on twelve minutes with a great goal scored by Mirco Vella who stunned goalkeeper Zarb from over thirty meters. Zejtun obtained the equaliser on 29 minutes with Castano shielding the ball before passing towards Ryan Spiteri who fired low into the net.

Swieqi regained the lead early in the second half thanks to a Calbretta penalty, but suffered a setback on 64 minutes when defender Cassar was sent off. With ten men Swieqi elected to defend, but Zejtun apart from some rare shots were never effective in front.

Deep in stoppage time Zejtun’s misery was complete when substitute Ayorinde won a penalty with the same player drilling home from the penalty spot.
