Sunday, 9 December 2018, 16:18 Last update: about 6 years ago

Michael Spiteri, a 32-year-old man from Zabbar, stands accused of stealing €60 and damages to a fuel pump which amounted to €575.

The accused admitted all charges brought against him after the police arraigned him before magistrate Francesco Depasquale.

When asked by the court why he did such things, Spiteri said that even he didn't know why.

He also denied having a drug problem.

It was agreed upon that the accused should be given a chance to address his problems, but that the sentence should serve for the accused to understand what he had done wrong.

The Court sentenced him to twelve months in prison suspended for two years, issued a three-year treatment and probation order, also ordering him to pay back the €575 in damages to Joseph Azzopardi within six months.
