Transport Minister Ian Borg has said that an international call for proposals for the construction of the Malta-Gozo tunnel will be issued in six months' time.
The minister made this statement while speaking at a special cabinet meeting at the Transport Malta Centre in Lija.
The minister highlighted that the project management tender was issued a few months ago, and that geological model is now complete.
The tunnel will run from l-Imbordin in Malta to Nadur in Gozo.
The Malta-Gozo tunnel has been a topic of debate for a number of years, with politicians also considering the possibility of a bridge in the past. This idea was set aside in favour of a tunnel.
