Two men were seriously injured early this morning when they were hit by a car on the Birkirkara by-pass, the police said.

The accident took place at 1.30am.

The men, a 20-year-old of Fgura and a 28-year-old of San Gwann, were hit by a Peugeot 208 driven by a 28-year-old man of Mqabba.

The two men were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia is conducting an inquiry.
