Mosta registered their third win of the season after three months to the date of failing to do so. It was a deserved win for Mosta who are showing that under the guidance of Mark Miller things have changed drastically.

The Blues dominated the proceedings and always held the upper hand. From their part Qormi failed to live up to expectations and once again they left the stadium empty handed. Their season is now turning into a nightmare, missing to get something from a direct encounter against fellow strugglers Mosta.

This was a clash between two teams languishing in the bottom part of the table.  Mosta were coming from a prestigious draw against Gzira which was their first positive result after succumbing to six consecutive defeats. In fact against the Maroons Mosta where seconds away from taking the maximum points at stake.

On the other hand Qormi's only win dates back to the first day of the campaign and from than onwards they have gone through a negative run.

Mosta's coach Mark Miller had to do without the  suspended pair of Dexter Xuereb and Akeem Roach.

Mosta were first to threaten when in the 19th minute an Angan cross was punched away by Azzopardi with the ball falling into Zachary's Brincat path only for his header to be saved once again by the Mosta custodian.

Four minutes later Mosta drew first blood with Brincat now the supplier sending a perfect cross towards Juri Cisotti who found no difficulty to tap home.

Qormi went near to levelling matters just a minute later but Vella saved well a Gusman shot. But it was Mosta who went near once again just past the half hour when off a Cisotti corner Morisco's shot was blocked by Azzopardi.

With Qormi being unlucky ten minutes from the break when Gnindokponou was denied by the woodwork. And in the 73rd minute following a solo run on the right flank Cisotti's low shot just missed the target.

On 54 minutes Mosta went near to increasing their lead when off a Sammartino free kick a header effort by Angan was saved by an agile Azzopardi.

They did so on the hour when Cisotti passed towards Davy Angan N'Guessan with his low drive beating Azzopardi for Mosta's second. Qormi tried to venture forward with Michael Borg testing Vella with a low drive from just outside the area.

In the 79th minute Azzopardi saved on Gomez to deny Mosta their third goal. Till the end play was restricted to the midfield sector with Mosta controlling well and not giving much space to their opponents. For Qormi this loss sent them in deeper trouble ending their first round committments on a bitter note.
