A man was seriously injured on Tuesday afternoon after he fell off a ladder in a private residence in Birzebbuga, the police said

The accident took place in Triq it-Takijiet at 12.30pm.

The police said the 59-year-old was carrying out some work on the roof when he fell off the ladder, which ended up toppling over onto the man.

He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.
